The Sarajevo-born musical icon of the Balkans is best known in North America for his compositions written for the films of director Emir Kusturica (Underground, Time of the Gypsies). Bregovic has been likened to peers Ennio Morriconi and Nino Rota, creating unforgettable scores that transcend their medium. Joined by his 40-piece Wedding and Funeral Orchestra featuring a Serbian gypsy band, a 12-piece string ensemble, a 15-man choir, and three Bulgarian singers, Bregovic marries the dance tunes of a raucous gypsy brass band with traditional Eastern European choral music—all with a rock and roll edge.
