ALEXANDER MCQUEEN FOR TARGET
Yes, the rumors are true. Alexander McQueen is going to create a diffusion line for Target. In an interview for W Magazine, the designer stated that he wanted more visibility in the US, more specifically the Midwest (yay Cleveland!).
To be launched in March 2009, McQueen is creating a line for Target's Designer Collaborations series. Not to be confused with the highly lucrative GO International label, this line aims to bring high-end designs and creations by established designers to the mass market.
Known for mixing couture elements with edgy details, Alexander McQueen's diffusion line will sure to emerge as a must-have for fashion-forward consumers that are, at the same time, budget conscious as well. The inspiration for this collection is his younger McQ line. This collection will feature skinny jeans, punk-inspired tees, studded jackets, menswear-inspired tuxedo jackets, zippered black tights, and a color-block dress with a bubble hem. The collection will also include swimwear and voile print scarves. Price points range from $19.99- $129.99. Here are some drool-worthy photos to feast your eyes on:
Whereas Clevelanders have to wait until March, Manhattanites are going to enjoy a two-day preview starting February 14, 2009 (so much for targeting the Midwest...). It might be worth a trip to the Big Apple. by Paula Purpera |
