Webcrawler: Top 5 Websites for the Week
webcrawler top 5 websitesHave you ever been bored at work and you just had to surf the web? I think everyone's been there. So you go to Facebook, or Myspace, or Twitter and realize that your industrious IT department blocked these sites? Well, don't fret. In this issue of The Webcrawler, we bring you the top 5 websites of the week sure to cure your boredom and are tried and tested to be firewall-proof.

1. Tweetingtoohard (tweetingtoohard.com)
Ever follow someone on Twitter who is egocentric and narcissistic? Where every tweet is about how socially-adept and popular and good-looking they are? Well, this website is for you. Tweetingtoohard.com gives all these self-important tweets their place in the sun.

 tweetingtoohard.com

My two all-time favorites are from @babesmcphee who says:

 webcrawler tweetingtoohard.com

 and also from @joshuabaer:

 twiiter

You can submit, vote on, and comment on the tweets at TTH. In fact, the website actually encourages you to submit a self-important tweet and make the world a better place. Everyone around you will be eternally grateful.

2. Engrish.com

The Japanese are known for their resourcefulness and work ethic. They are also known for their "Engrish". It was accurately depicted in the movie, "Lost in Translation", as I'm sure most of you have seen. Engrish.com brings us humorous mistakes that appear in Japanese signs, products, and advertising. One of my all-time favorite websites, Engrish.com will keep you laughing for hours on end.

Here are a few of my favorite Engrish:

3. Maybe you shouldn't buy that (maybeyoushouldntbuythat.com)

Presenting a collection of the most expensive AND worthless things, maybeyoushouldntbuythat.com features excessive junk like the Diamond Skull entitled "For the love of God", priced at a whopping $20 million, or Etsy's "Coffin Couch" which retails at $3500 plus shipping and crating. Because you never know when you're gonna need a skull encrusted with diamonds, or a couch that is a coffin...

My personal favorite is the Christophe Claret DualTow watch MSRP $300,000. This amazing watch does not only have 73 jewels encrusted in it, but it also displays the time digitally to the nearest five minutes! For almost half a mil, you would think the watch would tell the time to the nearest millisecond. But not this ultra special watch, doing that would be too undistinguished and second-rate.

4. What Would Tyler Durden Do? (http://www.wwtdd.com/)

Another celebrity website? What Would Tyler Do is straight up and no BS. Named after the Fight Club character, Tyer Durden, nihilistic, charismatic antihero waging a war against civilization. Famous for publishing photos by Cameron Diaz, Kristin Davis, and most recently Elisabeth Canalis (Clooney's newest model GF), this website may not be safe for work. But would you do what Tyler Durden would do?

5. Kitten War (kittenwar.com)

For rabid cat lovers, this website will keep you occupied for hours. The website pits two kittens of relatively similar cuteness and leaves it up to the viewer to select the winner. Here is a screenshot of the site.

So enjoy and have a great day at work!
