Here are the top 5 websites of the week:
1. VBS.tv (http://www.vbs.tv/)
By far, one of my favorite websites of all time. The web-based channel brought to you by the same geniuses behind the alternative publication, VICE magazine. Employing the creative talent of Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich), watching the episodes take you on a ride you never want to get off. This site features stories on topics mainstream media will not touch such as eastern bloc black market arms deals, a heavy metal band within the red zone in Baghdad, cocaine and traditional Bolivian rituals, the Jihadi pop culture in Palestine, Scopolamine-a date rape drug quite popular in South America, coming-of-age sexual rituals Colombian teenagers experience that most Americans would raise their eyebrows at, and many more.
2. Exopolis Mixtape (http://mixtape.exopolis.com/)
This site reveals a very impressive interactive flash player from a creative studio in Los Angeles. The mixtape features music from Nouvelle Vague, Hall and Oates, Gogol Bordello, Modern English, Detroit Grand Pubahs (yes!), and many more.
3. Flash Games (http://www.k2xl.com/)
K2xl is home of the world's most addictive flash games by Flash developer Danny Miller. This is where I found the most addicting (yet soothing) flash game, Boomshine. It also features other flash games such as Psychopath, Stickworld, and Stick Avalanche.
4. Go Fug Yourself (http://gofugyourself.celebuzz.com/)
For your daily dose of highly entertaining celebrity dirt and fashion faux pas. Because fugly is the new pretty.
5. Creative Imagery by Eric M. Gustafson (http://www.antilimit.com/)
Stunning images from the mind of Texas native Eric Gustafson. His images are all taken in the moment, no pre-arranged setting, lighting, props, or models. The photo galleries are accompanied by electronic music ranging from ambient to industrial featuring Afterlife, Darkhalo, and Tosca.
