Urban Outfitters releases LSTN #7 |
This is to all my compatriots who love indie music. Urban Outifitters releases LSTN #7, 25 FREE tracks from today's indie artists, available for FREE download at http://lstn.urbanoutfitters.com/7/ until March 30, 2010. Lots of sweet tracks in this LSTN. Most notably from my indie fave du jour, The Xx, with "Basic Space", from their debut album XX, some synth-pop goodness from Washed Out with "Feel It All Around" from the dreamy album Life of Leisure, and the single, "Dominos, from the British band, The Big Pink. Also worth mentioning are A Place to Bury Strangers' rock electro tune, "In Your Heart", "Home", from the folky, neo-hippie 12-piece band (or rather, family?) Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, the very catchy "Change of Heart" by Swedish artist Sarah Assbring, also known as El Perro del Mar (translation: The Dog from the Sea), and "Laura" by the San Francisco based Girls.

The True iPhone Killer?
After a deluge of smartphones hit the market in the past year or so, a question has been on a lot of people's minds: who will topple Apple from the smartphone throne? Will it be RIM (Research In Motion) and it's family of Blackberrys, or Palm with the new Pre, with it's virtual and physical QWERTY keyboard, or will it be a Google Android phone? I say none of the above.
Last Wednesday, mobile giant, Nokia, announced the release of their newest (and greatest?) smartphone, the N97 mini. Having had three Nokia mobile devices myself, I eagerly dove into the details of the so-called true iPhone killer.

Rodarte has been seen on the red carpet as worn by Kristen Dunst, Emma Watson, Rihanna, and Reese Witherspoon. The collection will be feminine, yet modern, with a very keen attention to detail. Will Google Wave Kill Facebook and Twitter? |
|
Lately, we have been so awash and inundated by the ubiquitous social networking and communications sites on the net and on our smartphones. The first thing I do in the morning is check my email to find out if I need to check my Facebook page, then go to Facebook, change my status update and probably send out a tweet. How often do you get the urge to update your Facebook status or that feeling that you just have to send out a tweet?
We have come to the point where there are so many tools to communicate that sometimes communication can become somewhat diluted. There is your email (or emails), Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Myspace, Friendster, Multiply, Hi5, and many more. Seriously, who has time to do all this? Have you ever wondered if there could be a one-stop shop to do all of this? |
