thakoon for targetTHE FRUGAL FASHIONISTA: THAKOON FOR TARGET

He has dressed Michelle Obama, and his designs have been worn by fashionistas  and celebrities  such as Keira Knightley and Sarah Jessica Parker on the red carpet. So, if you haven't heard of Thakoon Panichgul, then you need to get out from under that rock.

Thakoon was born in Northern Thailand and moved to Nebraska in his teens. Originally into photography, he discovered an eye for styling and designing.  After a brief stint as an editor in Harper's Bazaar, he enrolled at Parsons School of Design in NYC. He won a nomination for the 2006 CFDA awards and that was only the beginning.

Is It Off The Grid?
Last week, a beloved Cleveland establishment closed its doors. The Grid (E13th and St. Clair) is no longer a weekend destination. Signs on the door say, "Redesign in Progress: See you in 2009", but rumors indicate that this infamous spot may be closing its doors forever.

I have had some great memories of that place. In fact, The Grid was the very first places that Spotcleveland ever shot. It had a huge, well-designed dance floor, perfect layout, kick-ass sound system, awesome electronic music, pool tables, friendly bartenders, and a great & fun crowd every week.  Being a woman, I loved going there since, unlike some downtown night spots, The Grid is never a place where you are going to get groped, followed or otherwise harassed every time you smile at someone and I never saw one fight in all the time I spent there. I set up some Pawn shop/ Garage Sale belt driven turntables and a $25 Radio SHack Mixer on a Pool Tableat a DIve Bar.

You are known as the "King of Funky Breaks", what is it about this genre that you really love?
I don't consider my self the King of Anything, I don't give a fuck about labels and all that, a magazine in 99 came up with that term and It stuck, and my first proper released mix cd was called The Funky Breaks. I do love Breaks though, very much.

Dexter is back!!!
dexter is backDexter is baaaaaack!

Our favorite (super)hero/serial killer is back for another season of fulfilling our guilty pleasure. Showtime's critically acclaimed and highly rated series, Dexter, is on its third season and it just keeps getting better.

Granted, this review is a little bit on the delayed side, because we are midway into the third season, but it really is better late than never.  For new Dexter converts, better read on, because this season just got hotter.
