An Interview With Heavygrinder
heavy-grinderWe interviewed Heavygrinder before her much-anticipated show at EUPHORIA in Cleveland on March 21st.

The beautiful and talented DJ took time out of her busy schedule to talk about her new release, ETERNITY, and her love for her fans and music. Check it out!

Tell us about your musical background.

I was always into music since I was little. I really enjoyed singing and dancing. I also took a little vocal training when I was younger in Japan. So I have always been into music.

As you used to model, how did you make the transition from modeling to being a DJ?

I used to do some modeling but my interests shifted. The creativity and art of djing had won my heart. Music has become my life and lover.

Who inspires you as an artist?

I have been inspired by so many artists. Anywhere from rock to house. Timo Maas was one of my first influences.

Being a beautiful woman, was it difficult for people at first, to take you seriously as an artist? How did you overcome that?

Being a woman in general, it was quite hard to be accepted at first but I continued to do what I love and I was able to overcome many things.

How would you characterize your music? Are there any other musical genres that you would like to explore?

It is funky and groovy. I am sticking to house for now but I might explore some more in the future.

What is your favorite place to spin and why?

I would have to say I had a great time at Kokugikan in Japan. People were really getting down. Anywhere where people are getting down and dancing and really enjoying themselves would turn into my favorite place. I also enjoy Ibiza, Spain.

What do you like most about spinning records?

I enjoy putting tracks together and making a new sound. I also like to see the people enjoying themselves. It kept me doing what I love to do.

Youíre in the process of releasing your new project, ETERNITY. Tell us more about it.

Eternity is going to be released in May 2008. It has been such a pleasure making the album and I hope everyone will enjoy listening to it just as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Who did you listen to when you were in the process of producing the album?

Jamiroquai had been on the heavy rotation!

Other than spinning records, what kind of things do you usually get into?

I love to draw and watch animation or movies. I also like taking walks and discovering new things during the process.

How do you see your career progressing? What is in store for your fans?

I hope to release more production that my fans will love. Please stay tuned for more candy for your ears.

Do you have any message for your Cleveland fans?

I am really looking forward to rocking the house in Cleveland and seeing you on the dance floor. I wouldnít be here without you. Thank you very much for your support and Love!
