| Dexter is back!!! |
Dexter is baaaaaack! Our favorite (super)hero/serial killer is back for another season of fulfilling our guilty pleasure. Showtime's critically acclaimed and highly rated series, Dexter, is on its third season and it just keeps getting better. Granted, this review is a little bit on the delayed side, because we are midway into the third season, but it really is better late than never. For new Dexter converts, better read on, because this season just got hotter. Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is a blood spatter analyst in the Miami Metro forensics unit. His charming, non-threatening demeanor hides a deep and dark secret: Dexter is a serial killer by night, methodically stalking his victims, and chopping them into little pieces, before dumping them in the deep waters of Miami. This season, Dexter still follows the code that his foster father, Harry, a now deceased former police officer, has hatched in order to deal with his homicidal urges. Dexter's victims are the dregs of society: pedophiles, murderers, rapists, pimps, and drug dealers, to name a few. In this way, justice is served in an unconventional way, while satiating Dexter's blood thirst. His girlfriend, Rita (played by Rambo leading lady Julie Benz), naive to her partner's morbid attractions, is still Dexter's thread to normalcy. A new addition makes things more interesting, and will test Dexter's mettle throughout this season. His adopted sister Debra Morgan (Jennifer Carpenter), hungry for recognition, needs to break the homicide case of Oscar Prado, the youngest member of a high profile and politically influential Cuban family. This season, certain circumstances lead Dexter, out of necessity, to modify his code of conduct, and ultimately find a willing ally in the most unlikely of places. You can watch Dexter on Showtime, Sundays, at 9pm.
