2010 is proving to be an amazing year for music. That being said, here are our top album picks for best albums of 2010 so far:
Brothers by The Black Keys The latest album from the amazing duo from Akron, Ohio is the group's highest charting album to date, selling approximately 75,000 during it's first weekend. Filled with a good number of solid songs, this album definitely makes our top album list. Check out Dan Auerbach's surprisingly good falsetto on the first track, "Everlasting Light". The Filter Picks: "Tighten Up", "Next Girl", "Howlin' for You", Sinister Kid"
Body Talk Pt. 1 by Robyn Swedish recording artist, Robyn, broke out of the pop music scene in the 90's with her international hit song, "Show Me Love". Ten years after, she proves that she is better than ever with a trilogy of albums. The first album, Body Talk Pt. 1 features collaborations with Royksopp and Diplo and is hands down the best electro-pop album of the year to date. The Filter Picks: "Dancing on My Own", "Don't Fucking Tell Me What To Do", "Dancehall Queen", "None of Dem"
The Suburbs by Arcade Fire The newest album from the Canadian indie group that headlined Lollapalooza this year is quite a departure from their old sound. If you've been a fan, you might be put off by this, but listen to the album a few more times and you will be hooked. The Suburbs is both captivating and complex. It takes you on a road trip that you are not quite sure you want to be on but you keep going because it is both addictive and enthralling. Hands down one of my faves of the year so far. The Filter Picks: "We Used to Wait", "Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)", "Ready To Start", "Deep Blue", "Month of May"
White Magic by ceo ceo is Eric Berglund's (of the Swedish duo Tough Alliance) solo project. His first solo album, White Magic is an upbeat, indie pop album with catchy, electro beats. The album is eclectic, addictive, with pop hooks spiced with a heavy electronic influence. With only 8 tracks that clock in at 28.5 minutes, the album definitely leaves you wanting more of that magic. The Filter Picks: "All Around", "Illuminata", "Come With Me", "Love and Do What You Will"
Coming up in part V: Crystal Castles, Sleigh Bells, LCD Soundsystem, and more.
