With the end of 2010 in the horizon, we have for you the rest of 2010's best albums. It has been an amazing year for music. Here are our picks for the top albums of the year:

Best Albums 2010Relayted by Gayngs
The Jagjaguwar Label is known for signing amazing indie musicians such as Bon Iver, Small Black, The Besnard Lakes, and Ladyhawk. Gayngs is composed of Jagjaguwar artist Justin Vernon (of Bon Iver), members of the electro/glam rock group Solid Gold, producer Ryan Olson, rapper P.O.S., and many more talented artists. Relayted is probably the most eclectic-sounding album of the year. Starting from dirty, smooth jazz sound of "The Gaudy Side of Town" to the folky, dark-wave sound of "The Walker" and "Cry", to the electronic pop sound of "Faded High", and ending with the 80's pop retro sound of "The Last Prom on Earth", this album is definitely solid from beginning to end.
The Filter Picks: "The Gaudy Side of Town", "The Walker", "Cry", "Crystal Rope", "Faded High"

Best Albums 2010Body Talk Part 2 by Robyn
The second installment of the best electro-pop album of the year is as good as the first one. Robyn shows her amazing mastery of addictive Swedish pop beats, while flaunting her ability to be diverse. The album features the electro/dance version of one of her songs from Body Talk Part 1, "Hang With Me". This time she collaborates with Snoop Dogg on "You Should Know Better". This album is definitely a must have. Coincidentally, Robyn is gonna be swinging by our neck of the woods on February 7th at the HOB. Get tickets HERE before they sell out.
The Filter Picks: "Hang With Me", "Love Kills", "We Dance to the Beat", "Criminal Intent", "Indestructible"

Best Albums 2010Dark Storm by The Jezabels
One of my ultimate faves of the year, Dark Storm is one of those albums you have to play over and over----and over. The indie group from Sydney, Australia got their feet wet opening for the likes of Tegan and Sara and Katie Noonan. Their dark, sultry, mysterious sound just draws you in and keeps you in with that addicting pop hook. Unfortunately, the group is going nowhere Stateside in the near future. In the meantime, putting the EP on repeat will have to suffice.
The Filter Picks: "The Dark Storm", "Mace Spray", "Sahara Mahala", "A Little Piece", She's So Hard"

Best Albums 2010Forget by Twin Shadow
Making a number of best album of 2010 lists, this album definitely makes ours. Riding the dark wave invasion, with other amazing artists such as Toro Y Moi, Diamond Rings, and Neon Indian, Twin Shadow's (George Lewis Jr.) 80's new wave retro sound is reminiscent of Depeche Mode, New Order, and Echo and the Bunnymen but is refreshingly 2K10. If this is your cup of tea, then you might be ecstatic to know that Twin Shadow will have a show at the Grog Shop on January 16th.
The Filter Picks: " Tyrant Destroyed", "Castles in the Snow", ""Yellow Balloon", "Slow", "Forget"

Best Albums 2010Ring by Glasser
Glasser is California native musician Cameron Miserow, the daughter of one of the members of Blue Man Group. Mesirow originally started Glasser while singing over Garageband, now, she is touring with Fever Ray and Pains of Being Pure of Heart, while being compared to the likes of Florence and the Machine, and Bat for Lashes. Her sound is vocal pop with an infectious blend of tribal percussion and electronica.
The Filter Picks:"Apply", "Home", "Plane Temp", "Mirrorage", "Treasury of We"

Coming up in the next one: Four Tet, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Warpaint, Deerhunter, and more.
